A Pastor Gives Thanks For His Flock And For His Family
"As your pastor I have a lot to be thankful for: No pastor could
ask for any church body to be more faithful or more devout. No pastor
could ask for any church to be as free of conflict as we have here. No
pastor could ask for a church to care for his family or love his family
as much you have loved and cared for my family and me. No pastor could
ask for such a wonderful opportunity to minister to people and to show
people how much God loves them. I am thankful for my wife who supports
me in my ministry. I am thankful for my son in whom I am well pleased. I
am thankful you called me to be your pastor. I am thankful there are so
many areas of service I can provide to you. I am thankful you serve the
Lord with humility, and you truly love the Lord.
There are so many things we don't have, but it doesn't matter. We
don't have stained glass windows, or a kitchen, or Sunday school rooms,
but it doesn't matter. We don't have a choir, fancy furniture, or
running hot water but it doesn't matter. These things don't matter
because of what we do have. What we do have is each other. We have other
people who care about us and for us. We have the love of God with us in
this place. We have the hand of God upon us. We have the protection and
watchfulness of God standing guard over us. We have the Holy Spirit
within us. We have Jesus Christ, who took our sins to the cross so each
of us could have everlasting life."
