Topic: Facing Depression At Christmas
The
holiday season is, for some, one of the most depressing times of the
year. Expectations for a joyous time of love and sharing can be violated
in the extreme. Expectations for a joyous time can run too high bringing
on crushing depression. In addition, persons feel depression at
Christmas for many other reasons. Christmas memories of Christmases past
can bring grief because of a personal loss. Changes in life can bring
depression because Christmas this year is not like Christmases of the
past. What we must do when we face depression at Christmas is try to
count the blessings of our life. We all have blessings. One of our
greatest blessings is the little baby born in Bethlehem named
Jesus. Our present Christmas may be really awful compared to years past,
but we must take our heart and use our heart to look up to Heaven. We
can look up to Heaven with full confidence on Christmas because someday
all our Christmases will be spent celebrating with the actual Christ
Jesus and His Father in Heaven. When facing depression at Christmas, we
must try to find a way to give to others in a substantial way. Giving
time and attention to others who badly need love can be a great blessing
to offset our darkness.
