Our Major Weapon Against Suffering
Thanksgiving is a major weapon against the darkness of
suffering. Our major weapon against suffering is giving thanks and
gratitude. The purpose of the darkness is to push down, to crush, and to
destroy us in body, mind, soul, and spirit. When we give thanks, truly
and honestly give thanks within our hearts, we directly push back
against the force seeking to destroy us. When we survey all we have and
we survey all God has given to us, when we become overwhelmed with our
blessings, we let loose a power and a force within us that overcomes the
darkness. Our spirit of thanksgiving welling up within us is a spirit of
love overcoming the darkness. When we face suffering, we can overcome
the suffering by counting our blessings.
