Repentance And Sacrifice
In terms of just repentance alone, there can be no true repentance
without sacrificing your all for Christ. True repentance means taking
the old you and letting the "old you" die. Repentance means
letting your past die. Repentance means letting your hurts of the past
die, letting your hurts be gone, and letting your hurts be no more.
Repentance means letting your dreams die even when letting your dreams
die is the most difficult thing you have ever done. Repentance means
letting all the worldly things you think are important slip away in
favor of what God thinks is important. Repentance means you are the
judge, jury, and executioner of your old sinful self. Repentance means
you sacrifice yourself for Christ because He sacrificed Himself for you.
In repentance, you sacrifice yourself because Christ loves you. In
repentance, you sacrifice yourself because you love Him…you love Him
with all your heart, all your soul, and all your might. Repentance means
you are willing to do anything, go anywhere, or endure any hardship for
Christ.
The sacrifice required in repentance stands in stark contrast to a
person's old sinful self screaming "gimmee, gimmee, gimmee."
