What Is Meditation?
A dictionary definition of the word "meditate" indicates
the generally accepted idea that to meditate means to reflect on or to
contemplate. In a religious sense, meditation can also be called open
heart prayer. The practice of meditation has some mystique or mystery
surrounding the practice but there is no special skill required in doing
meditation. Meditation is accomplished by learning to pay attention to
your heart, mind, soul, body, and surroundings. Meditation is not
difficult to learn. Meditation is not a spiritual matter unless you want
to use meditation in the context of your prayer life. Meditation has
been described as aerobics for the mind. Meditation helps you become
more aware of your heart, mind, soul, body, and surroundings. It can
help you improve your performance in nearly every area of life.
Meditation does not cost anything except the time and attention you give
to learn and practice it.
